Lets look at global economics for Michigan communities and what does that mean. Going global to buying local seems to be a reach and is what volume six of a nine part series about, Michigan’s Video Storyteller, Duane Weed continues the series of ‘what is means to buy local‘.  Dr. David Hebert, Assistant Professor at Ferris State University in Big Rapids is our guest discussing how going global may be the best thing a local business can do for their community.

When researching this blog post I came across this article: Buying Local: How It Boosts the Economy from Time dot com states, “The point is not that communities should suddenly seek to be self-sufficient in all ways, but rather, says Boyle, “to shift the balance. Can you produce more locally? Of course you can if the raw materials are there, and the raw materials are often human beings.”

Global economics from Wikipedia talks about World Economy. The world economy or global economy  is the economy of the world, considered as the international exchange of goods and services that is expressed in monetary units of account (money).

Question: How many businesses in your community need a global presence in order to establish their business as local? The hardware store, retail shop and even my business needs a touch of global to survive.  What are your thoughts?
