Keeping the money in your local Michigan economy and what it means for buying local is what Dr. David Hebert discusses in Volume Four of our ‘What does Buying Local Really Mean”. Michigan’s Video Storyteller Duane Weed looks at what it really means to buy locally in Michigan in this nine part video series.
Dr. David Hebert teaches at Ferris State University and is an Assistant Professor in economics. It is a pleasure having him share what it means when a community like Grand Rapids Michigan had to redefine itself. A great example as we look at buying locally and the Michigan economy

What does that mean?
As the economic conditions change. So it turns out that somewhere else became more productive at an industry. The community digs deep and makes the change. When this happens sometimes thousands of the people lose their jobs and suffered real hardships. BUT, The American spirit and the spirit of Michigan businesses is one where when we get knocked down, we bounce back up. Redefining Grand Rapids in this example is interesting.
