On September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks at the World Trade Center in New York City, at the Pentagon building in Washington, D.C., and in a plane crash near Shanksville, PA. killed nearly 3,000 people. There were 400 of those that were police officers and firefighters… the first responders that we are so thankful for their dedication and service. According to Buy Local Michigan YouTube Channel, “Chad Brown, Pastor of Solon Center Wesleyan Church in Cedar Springs is also a Chaplin for the Michigan State Police, Rockford Post. On September 11, 2016 Pastor Brown wanted to not only remember all the lives that were lost but to honor the First Responders of 9-11 and those doing the job today.”

The rescue and recovery clean-up of the 1.8 million tons of wreckage from the WTC site took 9 months. According to Do Something dot Org, “Passengers aboard United Flight 93, heard about the previous airplane attacks and attempted to retake control of the plane from hijackers. As a result, the hijackers deliberately crashed the plane in a Pennsylvania field instead of at their unknown target.” Eighteen people were rescued alive from the World Trade Center attack and resulted in the largest loss of life by a foreign attack on American soil. According to CNN, “Nineteen men hijacked four fuel-loaded US commercial airplanes bound for west coast destinations. A total of 2,977 people were killed in New York City, Washington, DC and outside of Shanksville, Pennsylvania. The attack was orchestrated by al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden.
Here are some facts about Cedar Springs, Michigan: The Michigan Legislature incorporated Cedar Springs as a village in March of 1871. The village became the City of Cedar Springs in October, 1959. Cedar Springs is a city in Kent County in the state of Michigan, 20 minutes north of Grand Rapids. The population was 3,509 at the 2010 census.
