Welcome to Grand Haven Michigan Fun where Surfing and Kite Flying are just another day at the beach. Michigan’s Video Storyteller Duane Weed caught up with Steve Negen, owner of the Mackinaw Kite Company to learn about surfing and kite flying.

Learning more about the brothers Bob and Steve Negen we learned they loved flying kites so much that in 1981 they decided to try making a living selling them. Their journey began when they opened a small kite shop in Mackinaw City, Michigan, called, and this is brilliant: “Mackinaw Kite Co.” In 1986, Mackinaw Kite Co. was doing well enough to add a second location in Grand Haven’s Chinook Pier shopping center.
Grand Haven Michigan Fun includes many events on the beach from teaching kids to surf to flying kites to dipping your toes in the largest fresh water in America, Lake Michigan.
