Rudy Grahek AKA Dynamite the Clown is Michigan’s funnyman’s enjoying a long career of clowning around.  Rudy is known to many as Dynamite the Clown and for over a half a century he has been entertaining people everywhere he goes.  On October 29, 2016 Buy local Michigan was at the Big Rapids Fall Festival where Rex Schuberg, Big Rapids Downtown Business Association and Rick Spatholf present Rudy with a painting by the late Richard (Dick) Spatholf. Emotional and well deserved.

According to Central Michigan Universities Clarke Historical Library, “Rudy always wanted to be a clown. He created his clown makeup style and costume from a combination of his two favorite clowns; Emmett Kelly’s Weary Willie, and Red Skelton’s Freddie the Freeloader.  Rudy used the name of “Rudy the Clown” until some children said it looked as though his costume had “been blown up by dynamite.”  Rudy then became “Dynamite the Clown.”

Rudy Grahek AKA Dynamite the Clown career included working in the Happyland Carnival while still in high school in 1949, Clyde Beatty Circus in the early 1950s, 1990 to 1993 Rudy hosted the “Fox Kids’ Club Show” at Cadillac-based TV 33 Fox network, guest stared, occasionally Rudy was a guest on the Bozo show with Dick Richards, there is a monument in the park in Manton in his honor and his portrait on the bandshell as well, countless parades and parties Dynamite the Clowns has been an iconic performer in Michigan.
